Versus (commonly stylized as VS.) is a series of crossover games, primarily of the fighting genre, developed by Capcom, pitting their characters against characters from other companies such as Marvel Comics, SNK, and Tatsunoko.
The games credited with inspiring them, although they are not considered actual entries in the series, are X-Men: Children of the Atom and Marvel Super Heroes.
Capcom has also produced several game mash-ups including only their own characters, but some of them are not counted as part of the series, such as the Cross series with Namco. Additionally, certain crossovers games (such as Capcom & Psikyo All Stars or Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney) as well as crossovers featuring Capcom characters but developed by other companies are also not considered "official" entries in the Versus series.

- In a 2011 interview with Siliconera, former Capcom community manager Seth Killian said a collaboration with Kellogg's was a "fun request."[2]

"For the Capcom vs. series, just your own personal thinking, who would you like to see the Capcom characters challenge next? Seth Killian: That’s part of the challenge that I’d like to see happen that I don’t want to jinx by [laughs] talking about them now. Ono-san has talked before about Nintendo and they have a huge roster of great characters that would be fun to match up against. Another fun request has been Kellogg’s, the cereal company. You could fight Snap, Crackle, and Pop. Then like Tony the Tiger. I was thinking the last boss could be the big K from Special K. You just have to punch this giant letter K. Really, the fun part is when you get Vs. series moniker in there you can go anywhere. People still talk about Street Fighter vs. Mortal Kombat or something. Now we have Street Fighter X Tekken. We’re very happy to try to reach out and find new opponents for the Capcom group."

Who would you want to have Capcom square off against in the future?" RN: "There are a whole lot of properties that I would like to work with, a whole lot of game developers I'd like to work with in America. I'd love to do something with Nintendo maybe, or Square Enix, maybe do something with them. That would be pretty cool."

At the Nintendo 3DS conference in Amsterdam yesterday, Cubed3 attended Ono-san's roundtable session and managed to ask the key question: "Considering you are trying to make Street Fighter IV 3DS accessible to a wider audience, did you ever think about including Nintendo characters to broaden the appeal?" Rather than brushing the question off completely, instead Ono-san reacted very positively, saying he would like to make a Nintendo x Capcom fighting game and that the idea should be pitched to Nintendo of Japan and Masahiro Sakurai."
