The series' future[]

I'm sure most are aware of this but here are the latest known updates from eariler this year on Darkstalkers' future. Needless to say they are not positive. Game Informer via Eventhubs.

This gives me vibes of when pro gamer Daigo Umehara explained his belief of why there wouldn't be a new entry.

Personally, I like to believe in the "never-say-never" mindset because stranger things have happen before and a possible new Darkstalkers entry isn't necessarily 100 procent out of the question imo. Capcom should atleast consider outsourcing a new DS to another developer (while still serving as the publisher of course). During the EVO 2022 , Minoru Kidooka, the current CEO of Arc System Works (best known for Guilty Gear and BlazBlue among others), talked with IGN about how he wants the company to be less passive and more aggressive when it comes to IP collaborations. Now this is obviously just hopeful thinking on my part but it made me think how great it would be if ASW could pursue and convince Capcom of letting them develop a new DS game. I for one like the cel-shaded anime design ASW has used in most of their fighters since Guilty Gear Xrd (and I'm saying this as someone who usually is not into that kind of cel-shaded look) and would love to see a new DS game having the same or something similar seen in GG Strive.

With that all said, at the same time I also try to be realistic and not naive. Its sad but the DS series really being over is something we may just have to accept. I know that I don't wanna hold my breath all the way to death for something new that is unlikely to happen.Greatsong1 (talk) 12:38, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
