Sakon Shima in Sengoku BASARA 4.

Sakon Shima (島左近) is a character from the Sengoku BASARA series of action games. He made his first appearance (in current form) in Sengoku BASARA 4. Sakon's weapon of choice is a pair of blades and his element is wind.

Profile[]

Sakon Shima is a young commander in the Toyotomi army, following Mitsunari Ishida. A cheerful youth who enjoys nothing more than a gamble; he's as light on his feet as his looks and behavior imply. He yearns to show his master Mitsunari his one-sided loyalty. In combat, Sakon is a warrior who can be relied on to stir up the battlefield with a constantly changing flurry of kicks and slashes.

Historical Information[]

Kiyooki Shima (島清興), also known as Sakon Shima (島左近), was a Japanese samurai of the late Sengoku period. Shima eventually left the service of the Tsutsui, and eventually joined Mitsunari Ishida before Sekigahara.

At the Battle of Sekigahara, Shima served as one of Ishida's higher-ranking officers, commanding a unit of 1,000 strong men. Some sources suggest Shima led musketmen and that his position had cannons. He was shot by riflemen led by Kanbei Kuroda's son Nagamasa, forcing him to retreat. He died of his wounds about one month after the battle.

Trivia[]

  • In Sengoku BASARA: Samurai Heroes, he was an NPC general that could be recruited as an ally. However, this "Sakon Shima" is a different version of him.
