Resident Evil Village, (stylized as VII.I.AGE RESIDENT EVIL, and known in Japan as Biohazard Village [バイオハザード ヴィレッジ, Baiohazādo Virejji]) also known as Resident Evil 8, is an upcoming first-person survival horror game developed and published by Capcom. The game will be the tenth main installment in the Resident Evil franchise and the sequel to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.[1][2]

Development of Resident Evil Village started in early 2017.[5]

While Resident Evil Village is recognized by Capcom as the eighth main game in the series, and its logo stylized to include the roman numeral "VIII" for 8, the game producers Tsuyoshi Kanda and Peter Fabiano stated that the title choice was because they considered the village to be another character in the game, and because [the development team] would like players to understand that they reflected that in the title stylization. They also avoided calling the game by a typical abbreviation (such as RE8) as they wanted players to remember the Village as part of the game.[5][6]
