Naotora, also known as Ii Naotora, is a character from the Sengoku BASARA series. She first appears in Sengoku BASARA 4 as one of the new playable characters.

Profile

The hot-blooded female general of the Ii army who burns with animosity towards all of the world's men. Naotora swings her sword for the sake of making a world for maidens, offering relief to women who grieve in war. Her fiancé left her, due to the war with the Takeda army dragging on for so long. It's because of this that she harbors hostility towards Shingen Takeda.

Weapons

Naotara uses a huge sword in battle. This gives her decent range and coverage, but gives her slower attack speeds compared to other characters.

Naotara has a unique ability to modify or extend all of her skills. This allows her to follow-up her skills with a "shorter version" or another skill or add certain effect of another skill. To do this, the player must trigger a skill, then quickly press the button (or button combination) for another skill.

Historical Information

Ii Naotora (井伊直虎) was the daughter of Ii Naomori, the eighteenth clan head of Ii. After the death of her father in Okehazama, her cousin Ii Naochika was about to marry her so he can inherit the clan. Due to a slander from one of Imagawa retainers, Naochika was forced to commit suicide but he chose to flee to Shinano instead. Later he went back to Imagawa but he had already married to another woman while in fleeing. Naochika momentarily ruled the clan until another slander came again, which caused him to be executed by Imagawa Ujizane. After his death, Naotora became the head of the Ii clan until her death in 1582, making her adopted son from Naochika, the famed Ii Naomasa, its head.

Because of such history, Ii Naotora is known as a female samurai although there are some argued accounts of her activities during her rule as the clan head.

Trivia

• If one will consider each variation of her skills as a separate skill, Naotara would have the largest moveset of all characters in the series so far with 25 regular skills + 3 Super skills.
