OSSLan

Lan Hikari.

Lan Hikari (Lan Netto in Japan) is a main character in the Mega Man Battle Network role-playing games. He is the 11 year old boy that operates a NetNavi named MegaMan.EXE, which he battles with against multiple crime organizations such as World Three, Nebula and Grave. He is the son of the world-renowned scientist Dr. Yuichiro Hikari and his mother is Haruka Hikari.

Profile[]

He is always hungry, and wants to become the greatest NetBattler ever, but he is beaten by Chaud Blaze quite a bit. Lan is a bit of a bungler, and reckless to boot. However, this is what defines his ability to bounce back, even after the severe trauma that he is often subject to. This behavior of his puts him at odds with his rival, the cold and confident Chaud, Lan's foil in both behavior and profession. His recklessness also allows him to be a risk taker, and his protagonism allows him constant divine favors (e.g. leaping out of a 2-story window into the ocean and surviving).

Lan is constantly around his friends, hanging out with them, NetBattling using his PET (Personal Terminal), or sometimes pranking one another. His best friend, Maylu, who has lived next door to him since they were both very young, is with him always. She carries a torch for him, although, naturally, Lan is too distracted to notice. Dex is Lan's constant source of Netbattle practice and male humor, and Yai is an intelligent blonde girl who likes to share her wealth with her friends.

Lan is a sportsman with a particular love for soccer and an excellent inline skater. His connection to MegaMan.EXE is second to none, and this allows him to reach revolutionary new heights in NetBattles, such as Full Synchro and Cross Fusion.

Story[]

Lan Hikari is the youngest child in the Hikari clan, sired by Yuichiro and grandsired by Tadashi Hikari (the games' version of Dr. Thomas Light). He is the youngest of twins, the elder being Hub Hikari, who fell prey to a rare heart disease known as HBD. He also never met his grandpa, because his grandpa died before the twins were born.

Trivia[]

  • Both the names Lan and Netto are references to networks, , while the name Hikari, which is Japanese for 'light', is a reference to Dr. Light.
  • Lan Hikari made a cameo appearance in Mega Man Star Force 2 in a side quest which can be unlocked by having a Battle Network game pack in the DS. In this side quest, the player can obtain his diary entries, and see more of what happened after the events of Mega Man Battle Network 6.
