Ed (エド Edo), also known as the Bandaged Boy[2], is a video game character from the Street Fighter series of fighting games, first appearing in first appeared in Rose's Street Fighter IV ending and then in Balrog's Super Street Fighter IV prologue and ending as a non-playable character. He made his playable debut in the second DLC season of Street Fighter V.[3] Ed is the Psycho Power wielding protégé of Balrog, created by Shadaloo as a potential substitute body for M. Bison.
Biography
Appearance
Ed has short blond hair and blue eyes. When activating his Psycho Powers from his hand, his eyes glow purple.
In Balrog's Super Street Fighter IV ending, he was seen in a patient uniform and his head is covered in bandages. In Street Fighter V, Ed is a teenager and his short blond hair is messier. He wears a white sleeveless hoodie jacket, black trousers and red sneakers. He also has a bar code tattoo on his left arm and wears a matching set of white wristbands. He mostly wears his hood up.
Story
Early life
Ed is one of many spare bodies created as a possible vessel for M. Bison, before being stolen by Seth and placed within S.I.N.'s laboratory. He has the mark of Shadaloo on his hand and is able to use a small amount of Psycho Power.[1]
Super Street Fighter IV
Ed was eventually found by Balrog while the latter was searching for treasure around the S.I.N. laboratory. Although he decides to ignore Ed at first, upon begging Balrog to help him, Balrog notices a symbol glowing on Ed's hand. Balrog rescues him from the crumbling S.I.N. laboratory, believing that it was his (Balrog) lucky day. As they leave, Balrog asks Ed about his abilities, but Ed says that he has none. Nevertheless, Balrog decides to drag Ed along, knowing that Ed can be useful in the future. During this, the symbol begins glowing on Ed's hand again.
Street Fighter V
At China, after a fight between Urien and Balrog, the boxer tells Ed to use his power but Urien dispersed it, he appears to be impressed that Ed has inherited M. Bison's Psycho Powers.
At some point, Ed runs into Charlie Nash who suspects that the boy is with Shadaloo and proceeds to grab Ed, demanding answers as to where M. Bison is. An unfazed Ed simply places his hand on to Nash's right hand, seemingly hurting Nash with his Psycho Power. Ed taunts him for being a dead body. They are soon interrupted by F.A.N.G who seeks to take Ed with him. After a short skirmish, F.A.N.G decides to leave with Ed, using a poison gas cloud to escape.
Ed later helped Balrog take Zangief's control key.
Trivia
- Ed is the fifth playable character who was originally created as a "replacement body" for M. Bison, the first four being Cammy, Rose, Abel and Seth.
