Durga is a character from the 3D action beat 'em up game Asura's Wrath. She is the deceased wife of protagonist Asura, the mother of Mithra and the sister of Yasha.

She was portrayed as a kind and gentle woman who greatly cherished her family. She cares dearly for her husband, Asura, and sees only the best in him despite his wrathful tendencies. She agreed to raise Mithra, while Asura would make the world safer for her, showing a great degree of consideration for his tendencies and a pragmatic view of how helpful he can be.

She also believed her husband was at his best when he was fighting for what is right. Durga cared a great degree about Mithra as well and requested that Asura rescue her at the time of her death. Like any adherent mother, Durga could also be stern as she had reprimanded Asura for eating Mithra's vegetables in the past and warned that he treated her too lightly.

Durga has long black hair and a slender figure. She wears her hair in a braided style in the back of her head with a golden headdress and long cream dress with a jewel-embroidered purple tunic. She wears a tan sash on top of a green blouse underneath the tunic and cream-colored shoes.

In Hinduism, Durga is the goddess of the victory of good over evil. Durga was also the warrior aspect of the goddess, Parvati/Uma/Devi, who happened to be the beloved wife of the Hindu God of Destruction, Lord Shiva.

In a Hindu folktale, the Asura were united with the demigods through marriage between an Asura and a demigod. This draws parallels between Asura and Durga's marriage, as Asura was not openly accepted due to his naturally violent tendencies.

Early life[]

Durga was the wife of Asura and together they had a daughter, Mithra. She was also the sister of Yasha, a close friend and rival of Asura. After Deus' assassination of the EmperorSergei murdered her and kidnapped Mithra while Asura was framed and pursued for the murder of Emperor Strada. She died in Asura's arms and told her husband, to protect their daughter, and to be safe.

Asura's Wrath[]

Although she never appears in person, Durga does appear multiple times throughout the story of the game, through Asura's flashback to their life together and her death. As Asura is heading towards his final battle with Chakravartin, Durga's spirit is seen alongside the spirits of Yasha and the other members of the Seven Deities seemingly cheering Asura on.

As seen in the post-credits prologue, Durga is later reincarnated into the modern day, along with the rest of her family.

  • Durga and Emperor Strada are the only characters seen with red blood in the game.
